This is not one of my long as post, though I have a few in the works sure to make peaceman excited.
This is a self congratulatory pat on the back from me to me. I don’t know about you guys but I think Carmelo Anthony or his people have been reading our beautiful blog. Specifically several of the critical expose pieces I’ve written on about Carmelo Anthony’s impending free agency.
If you don’t believe me check it the following blurbs below from a recent yahoo sports article about Carmelo Anthony’s current state of mind. The article discusses Melo’s resoluteness to move forward in his career and his concerns about the Nugget’s possible squeeze play on him. A squeeze play where the Nuggets (by mining for extra gold in a trade scenario) send Carmelo to a compromised team that lands him by trading significant roster to acquire the Superstar Forward. Check out two blurbs from that article and compare to the two expose gems on Carmelo written by MOI the Mercurial Orange and Blue also known as the PUMA! Links to the expose’ bits are in highlights below. You can all thank me again later. LOL! Hey but if you want salty … read the pro Nugget musings of our beloved co-fanatic, Lives in New Jersey Loves New York.
This Blurb comes from the Stallion’s mouth, and it certainly suggest that Carmelo value’s the advantage of control over his situation even if it has to come by looking the abyss of the new CBA right in the eye:
‘”They want to sit down and talk, but my thing is it’s way beyond this year,” Anthony told Yahoo! Sports after scoring a team-high 23 points in the Nuggets’ victory. “It ain’t got nothing to do with the new GM, Josh, the players. For me, I feel it’s a time for change. “If I do nothing now, I’m never going to do anything. I feel like my time is now to make a decision if I want to leave or if I want to stay.”‘
The next blurb is consistent with my expose on the squeeze play the Nuggets are attempting to play on Carmelo, a squeeze play (mining for extra trade nuggets) that could land Carmelo in a compromised/watered down destination, inconsistent with what should be his objective of joining a well rounded team capable of advancing his career/championship aspirations:
“Sources close to Anthony say he is worried about being dealt to a team that has to gut its roster to acquire him. Possible trade partners also aren’t going to want to give up much for Anthony unless they receive some kind of assurance he’ll sign an extension. Another potential roadblock is the $1 million trade kicker Anthony has in his contract.”
A note for posterity. The Melo threads I cranked out were inspired by the enthusiasm of fellow fanatic Peaceman.
