Knicks vs Bucks a hot ticket across the pond

The New York Knicks and the Milwaukee Bucks will square off in the O2 Arena in London, England on Thursday as part of the NBA Global Games. This is a matchup that has generated a decent amount of fanfare leading up to the contest, despite the poor performance of the Knicks so far this season.

According to Ticketbis, there have been more than 2,000 page views on ticket websites since the announcement of the game’s location. Surprisingly, 10% of those page views have been from the United States. There seems to be an unusual amount of fans that are willing to cross the pond in order to take in some NBA action and to see their teams play. When you consider the popularity of Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks, you start to get an explanation as to why those numbers are so high.

According to TiqIQ, the minimum or ‘get-in’ price of tickets is $277.33. The most expensive tickets to this matchup are going for $3,222.03.

In terms of the actual game on the court, the Knicks face challenges across the board when dealing with the athleticism of Milwaukee. The Knicks have just been downright awful, and their 5-35 record proves it. However, players like Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire still put butts in seats. The Knicks have been unable to adapt to Derek Fisher’s triangle offense, and they have been doing some wholesale rebuilding by moving players such as Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith.

These deficiencies play right into the hands of Milwaukee, who are an extremely active defensive basketball team. The length of players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Brandon Knight have lead this team to the 6th-best points against average. This makes things extremely difficult for the Knicks who are 29th in the NBA in points per game.

Even with Anthony, the Knicks have struggled to put the ball in the basket. However due to Anthony’s recent knee injury, he may have to sit out the London showdown. If he can’t play, the Knicks will surely be in trouble. Regardless, fans in London will see some of the best young NBA on Thursday night.
